Practice Timed Essay for whomever would like additional practice- available on AP Classroom.
Week 6 of Quarantine:
For this week, below are the following assignments: 1. Zoom meeting Monday at 12:30. We will discuss our 2nd Poe poem and the AP classroom writing practice. Next week I will assign the "Haunting of Hill House" essay assignment, so I would suggest finishing the book this week. 2. AP Classroom timed (48 minutes) writing You have from Sunday night- Saturday to complete this. For this essay, I will put your converted score in to the grade book so apply last week's feedback to this assignment. I really want you all to focus on timing, incorporating quotes, and to be more specific about what the "complex" relationship is. I chose this prompt specifically as it has similar wording to last week's and I would guess your exam prompt will too. We will do ONE more practice after this before the exam. For anyone who wishes to have additional prompts to practice, please let me know! 3. Review the suggested exam prep youtube links posted to the right. Week 5 of Quarantine (Post Spring Break): For this week, below are the following assignments: 1. Zoom meeting Monday at 12:30 THIS should be our official Zoom time each week... For this, have your "Haunting of Hill House" available to take notes in Ch. 1. I will attach the PDF of notes that I'll go over. We will push the second Poe poem to next week, so have it annotated and ready. (My bad for thinking we'd be able to "meet" every Wednesday.) 2. AP Classroom timed (50 minutes) Writing You will have from Monday morning- Friday at midnight to complete this. For this essay, I will grade it based upon completion. At next week's Zoom session I want everyone to share their thoughts on how it went typing out the essay. Personally, I did a practice and found it strange to scroll up and down the page to read the content and then figure out how it went. I'd like for us to discuss what worked/ what was difficult.
Week 4 of Quarantine:
For this week, below are the following assignments: 1. Zoom Meeting Wednesday at noon- discuss AP Exam and Poe poem. For this, annotate your poem and be ready to discuss/ be called on- just as if we were in class! 2. Order "The Haunting of Hill House" and be prepared to discuss chapter 1 after Spring Break Week 3 of Quarantine: Begin reading "The Haunting of Hill House" and the linked Poe Short Stories. Grendel/ Beowulf Test- Follow the instructions on the test handout. The test is due to me by midnight on Tuesday Monday School Drop-Off- Please bring your Grendel book for me to check annotations. On Friday I will get more information about this year's exam and will share that at our Zoom check-in the following week.
Week 2 of Quarantine:
- There will still be a Grendel/ Beowulf test next week on Monday. It will either be an essay or involve multiple choice questions (or both)- still figuring that out. TBD. - Our next unit will involve online AP classroom Multiple Choice practice (as that now seems to be what will largely be on the AP exam) and a novel/ paired poetry essay. We will be reading "The Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson, but I am waiting to hear more follow up information from today's announcement from the governor before sending out this assignment. - Journals for this week posted below: Week 1 of Quarantine:
